The Vector Control Unit within the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment – will this week continue with a number of activities, geared towards eradicating mosquito breeding sites here.

In a release, the Ministry said that they will conduct premise inspections, health education and fogging operations to reduce the mosquito population, while decreasing the transmission of any mosquito borne viruses such as dengue, zika and chickungunya.

The Ministry says a special inspection team will focus on the treatment of high-risk public areas, such as Clare Valley, Sandy Bay, Barrouallie, Georgetown and Bequia, where water usually settles.

There will also be educational awareness programmes in a number of communities including Clare Valley, Sandy Bay, Barrouallie, Georgetown and Bequia.
