Diplomatic relations between the governments of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Republic of Cuba has deepened over the past 25 years and is now a firm and an unbreakable bond.

This point was highlighted during a public lecture hosted earlier today at the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College at Villa.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sandy Peters-Philips in here remarks at the forum said that over the past years our diplomatic relations have been fruitful.

She mentioned that among the areas of mutual cooperation are health, education, sports, culture, trade, transport and telecommunications.

In her remarks, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Her Excellency Vilma Reyes Valdespino noted that since St. Vincent and the Grenadines established a diplomatic mission in Cuba in 2005, and Cuba established an Embassy here in 2006, the bond of friendship strengthened and areas of cooperation expanded.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves in delivering the lecture on the theme “Cuba-SVG relations: Solidarity over 25 years”, said Cuba has been “an exemplary partner” and the contributions of the Cuban government has contributed significantly to the socio-economic development of this country.
