Private Sector Workers are in line to receive a wage increase this year, as the Government seeks ways to further improve the standard of living for nationals.

The announcement was made by Foreign Affairs Minister Sir Louis Straker, at the ground breaking ceremony for the Mt. Wynne/Peters Hope Project last Thursday.

Minister Straker indicated that a report from the National Wages Council pertaining to an increase in wage for the average daily paid worker is presently before Cabinet.

In March 2016, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Wages Council was officially launched.

The Council is set up to make recommendations to Cabinet on matters related to minimum wages, hours of work and conditions of employment for various categories of workers in the State.
