Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves was among four Caribbean leaders that met on Wednesday with Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou in Belize, and expressed that Ma’s successor will continue to push bilateral relations with their countries.

President Ma arrived in Belize on Wednesday on the second stop of his last overseas trip before leaving office in May, and met with Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow.

Ma and Barrow later held a roundtable meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister Timothy Harris of St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Lucia Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony.

According to Caribbean News Now, Dr. Gonsalves voiced the hope that the prosperous relations between Taiwan and St. Vincent and the Grenadines will continue.

He also praised President Ma for helping improve people’s livelihoods in the two countries, and expressed hope that Ma’s successor Tsai Ing-wen will continue to push bilateral ties forward.
