The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment says there are no new cases of the Zika Virus Disease (ZVD) here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The last confirmed cases of Zika were recorded in the latter half of 2016 with no new cases being confirmed since then.

This current situation is consistent with the recent press release from the Caribbean Public Health Agency, CARPHA, indicating that there is low risk of Zika virus disease in the region.

Notwithstanding, this low risk of disease transmission, the national health authority continues to monitor vector activity, and vector control measures remain.

Visitors and residents alike are reminded to protect themselves from mosquito bites and to avoid creating conditions for mosquito breeding.
