Regional health experts are expected to discuss the way forward in the fight against the mosquito borne Zika virus at a National Symposium to be held here this week.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), will host the Zika Symposium on Thursday, February 18th, at the National Insurance Services (NIS) Conference Facility, from 5.30 pm.

The Director of PAHO, Dr. Carissa Etienne, who is in state on an official one week visit will present remarks at the Symposium.

There will also be presentations from the Pan American Health Organization/ World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) Communicable Diseases and Health Analysis, Dr. Marcos Espinal, and key professionals in the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment, as well as remarks by the Executive Director of the Caribbean Regional Public Health Agency (CARPHA) Dr. James Hospedales.
