Aaron Weekes of the St. Vincent Grammar School is the 2015 Lions Club South, LIME and NIS sponsored Secondary Schools National Public Speaking champion following the staging of the finals of the competition last night at the Kingstown Methodist Church Hall.

Apart from winning the overall title, Weekes also won the Main Topic category of the competition where the students discussed the topic “Our Approach to Homosexuality is a Reflection of our Failure to Embrace Diversity and Greater Tolerance for People who are Different.”

Weekes placed second in the Student Prepared Speech Category, and first in the Impromptu category.

Second place overall went to Shemar Dennis of the West St. George Secondary School, who also placed second in Main topic category.

Third place went to Jaykel Mars of Bishop’s College Kingstown who won the Student Prepared Speech category and placed third in both the Main topic and Impromptu categories.

Nadia Rogers of the Mountain View Adventist Academy placed third in the student Prepared Speech Category and fifth overall, while Deandre Quashie of Georgetown Secondary School placed second in the Impromptu Category and fourth overall.

The other finalist was Delano King of the Troumaca Ontario Secondary School who placed sixth overall.
