Prime Minister Freundel Stuart on Sunday issued a strong warning in direct response to an upsurge in gun violence in Barbados.

The nation Newspaper quoted Prime Minister Stuart as saying that his Government had no intention of being “a helpless spectator bound hand and foot” while the wanton use of firearms tore homes and communities apart.

During his address on the final day of the Democratic Labour Party’s 60th annual conference, the party president did not say what specific measures his Government intended to pursue.

But, he made clear that his administration harbored grave concerns about the “virtual explosion” in firearms.
